Review of The Apostle (1997) by Kirk E — 21 Nov 2010
Robert Duvall gives one of the greatest examples of one actor being able to carry an entire picture on his own. Not that "The Apostle" isn't without it's own merits, it's just that Duvall is the reason they work.
Duvall lost the Oscar that year for this to Jack Nicholson for "As Good As It Gets"- which has to stand out as one of Oscar's bigger blunders.
