Review of The Apartment (1960) by Anne F — 11 Oct 2008
Jack Lemmon's character lets his married colleagues use his flat to meet with their girlfriends, in the hope of advancement at work, but then things get complicated. The film was a lovely look at moral views in the late 50s and showed that some things never change (men cheat on their wives with younger, prettier girls or indeed any one available) but that society's attitudes to infidelity have.
Shirley MacLaine was surprisingly good, Jack Lemmon was unsurprisingly good.
