Review of The Apartment (1960) by Matthew T — 26 Aug 2009
A funny and provocative film about love and life. I'm amazed that they could get away with this much sexual content back in 1960, but it is a Billy Wilder film which somewhat explains everything. The performances are top-notch, the story is solid, and the chemistry between the two main actors might be the best I've ever seen in a film.
The perfect date movie, and maybe the best romance not named Casablanca ever put on screen. But I do warn you: the title of comedy is a bit inaccurate, because there is some serious dramatic tension in this film!
