Review of The Apartment (1960) by Justin Q — 04 Oct 2010
My god do I love this movie.Jack Lemmon was never more entertaining, and Shirley MacLaine was never more adorable.
Billy Wilder's writing (along with co-writer I.A.L. Diamond) was sharp and my goodness the directing! We get so used to mutiple cutaways in movies now that we forget we really don't need them. Watch how Wilder stays on one shot and tells so much story.
Also I could go on for days about how incredilbe the sets were in this film (example: the amazing office set that Lemmon's character works in).
It's a fantastic film, and you'd do yourself a favor to watch it if you never seen it.
P.s. Seriously,I got a mad crush on 1960's Shirley MacLaine.
