Review of The Apartment (1960) by Daniel S — 16 Apr 2011
Another gem from Billy Wilder that I finally got around to seeing. It's s stretch to call it comedy, as it's quite a depressing look at 3 unhappy people. CC can't find anyone to love, yet is constantly witness to it in his apartment, Fran loves someone who can't commit to her, and Sheldrake doesn't know what he wants.
It also shows how unfair the corporate world can be, with bribery and adultery. Lastly it shows that happiness isn't complete unless you earn it, and at what cost does you does supposed happiness come.
The 3 leads are great, and I liked the doctor neighbor. Excellent film.
