Hands down, without a doubt, a masterpiece. This has some of the best writing I have ever seen in a movie and is one of the best movies I have ever seen. You care about the characters and they stop being characters and they become people.
The call backs are incredible, each scene has a meaning to it with a pay off later, like I said the writing is spectacular. I honestly don't know how Billy Wilder does it, he makes masterpiece after masterpiece, which some directors will be lucky to have one masterpiece in their entire career.
