Even when reviewing just particular genre films as I do it is still hard to get to all the releases of a particular year. I didn?t get a chance to see this 2006 release until now and it?s a shame because it is a pretty good animated feature. This one fell victim in part, at least in my opinion, to bad marketing. The few ads I saw for this movie did not really do it justice or really ?sell it? in any good way. Hat?s really a bummer since it was one of the better animated releases of 2006, but none of that showed in the trailers or ads. The main trailer I saw hardly even showed much of the animation in the movie which is one of the really great things in it..
The story is a very good telling of the ?walk in my shoes? lesson plot. The adventures our main character has when shrunk to ant size are exciting, entertaining, and even humorous. The adventures also move our title character along to learning his life lesson. The music is pretty good, with the tunes helping along the action, though I can?t say the soundtrack is that memorable. While it?s there though, it does do its job. The voice work is great in this movie and full of some good ?star power.? I honestly think this would have gotten more attention than it did in theaters if who ever marketed it had done a better job in selling it..
