Review of The Ant Bully (2006) by Bradley W — 26 Sep 2011
I watched it once. Haven't been able to find it since then. When I saw this movie I thought it was a pretty good balance between realistic ant facts (Iike how the ants put their hands on their backside where their hearts like would be in real life), fantasy and comedy.
I didn't see anything wrong with the plot or concept of teamwork. The plot was loosely based off a children's book, one that left the reader to decide on how the book should end. This was someone's take on that idea and their version.
Is it original? No, but still is a good plot for its intended audience. This is a children's film after all. Children who like bugs will most likely enjoy this movie. The scenery is nice. I like the work done on the backgrounds and perspective.
Color choice is nice. As far as the CG style, I'm not fond of it in general (you can read my other reviews about my opinion on CG animation vs. traditional 2-D), but I found it acceptable for this movie at the time I watched it (2006).
Could it be just as easily done 2-D and still have the same qualities, I don't know, but I think it could.
