Review of The Anniversary Party (2001) by Arpy S — 03 Mar 2008
Written and directed by Alan Cummings and Jennifer Jason Leigh who also star; the Anniversary Party is a film which provides us a window into the lifestyles of actors and filmmakers during one particular evening celebration.
As can be expected the night turns into a dramatic nightmare which is only enhanced by a surprise gift from a guest. The film is shot in a Dogme style which adds to it's realism. With a very strong ensemble cast and a provocative and believable screenplay the Anniversary Party is a profound look into the not so spectacular lives of the famous people we envy.
However the characters are somewhat unpleasant and it's difficult to relate to them.
