Review of The Animatrix (2003) by Chris S — 26 Nov 2008
I was surprisingly impressed with this show of great storytelling and animation. I am not the biggest fan of anime, mainly because it has become a parody of itself in a way, but the stories seen in this collection are intriguing.
"The Detective" and "The Second Renaissance" are my favorites. "Beyond" was very neat too, although the ending with the can and the blood dripping, I think I missed the metaphorical message in that.
The last one, "Matriculated," was a bit too trippy for me (and very predictable). Overall, this was a very enjoyable viewing. There are so many stories you can pull from the Matrix aspect. It's a shame the movies weren't all like this.
