Review of The Animatrix (2003) by Julian T — 09 Dec 2011
Brilliant animated science fiction that provides a terrific backstory to the world of the Matrix, detailing the war between man and machines and several other key elements of the Matrix. Each segment is captivating and engaging, my favorite's being "Beyond", "Kid's Story", and "The Second Renaissance".
The Animatrix is a stunning work of animation. It's imaginative and thoughtful. If you want to understand the Matrix universe then you will have to see this film. Some of the stories told in this film are beautiful while others are dark and violent.
"Beyond" is the most beautiful of the stories told while "The Second Renaissance" may be the darkest. This film is a masterpiece. The animation is wonderful and the stories are exceptional.
See this film if you consider yourself a member of the Matrix universe.
