Review of The Angry Red Planet (1959) by Phil H — 28 Jul 2016
I give this film two stars because I remember as a 6 year old child being fascinated by how it depicted Mars, which, at the time, was just as plausible as anything science could predict at that time. But the story, dialogue and acting is so cheesy and terrible that it can only be rated in the Plan 9 from Outer Space universe.
But of course the context of the times has to be kept in mind, with Sputnik just two years old and science fiction being the realm of the fantastic. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing this remade complete with rat spider bats and jello blobs.
