Review of The Angry Birds Movie (2016) by Evangelos C — 10 Oct 2016
Surprisingly decent, fun enough to get a dew chuckles. It's a film that knows what it is, a childish promotional animation based on a mobile game without any actual plot.
But it does that well, never getting tiresome, actually being quite lively and entertaining, and living up to the source material with good animation and just as good a story as it could get. I think that's an achievement considering how well other films have done when trying to exploit a popular franchise.
I expected to cringe based on a couple visual toilet humor from the trailers, but those were the harshest offenders and in the film they didn't feel annoying. Humor is dumb but sometimes kinda thoughtful and with things adults will appreciate.
Brainless entertainment at its best. Not worth much, but you can't go wrong with it either.
