Review of The Angriest Man in Brooklyn (2014) by James S — 26 Dec 2014
Robin Williams is one of the best comedic actors of all time, however, most of the work he's done has been very well written. This film is NOT well written, and saddens me, because of the overall tone and theme.
This film is all about preparing to die, particularly suicide towards the climax of the film. Having knowledge of Williams' death, this movie is incredibly saddening and disturbing in a sense, and makes you feel uncomfortable and upset all throughout.
Although intended to be a comedy, watching it months after his death, it is a mere tragic and sad story that hits hard. It does have a good message, but what happens leading UP to that message is very much like Williams' own depression and death of suicide, which is incredibly saddening and scary.
Rest in peace to a great actor, and a great person. I just wish the script had been better made for one of his last, and that the subject matter of the film didn't relate to current events concerning Robin's life.
