Review of The Angriest Man in Brooklyn (2014) by Tyler R — 12 Dec 2014
The whole thing not only wastes the great cast at its disposal but it also comes off as amateurish in both writing and direction. The Angriest Man in Brooklyn follows a man who is told he has an aneurism and has ninety minutes to live.
Yeah, the plot has been done before, but that doesn't mean the filmmakers had to make it as predictable as possible. Everyone involved seems to just be going through the beats, practically sleepwalking.
And it never settles on a tone, between drama and comedy, its always imbalanced. And all of the actors are wasted, which is a shamed because Robin Williams deserved a hell of a lot better than this. Even Peter Dinklage seems to be sleepwalking through his ten minutes on screen.
There a couple pop up cameos, but they aren't given anything to do except poorly written jokes. And as for the writing, it all seems amateurish, and by that I mean you'll sit there and think out the entire conversation, word for word before it happens.
This was just a bad film overall.
