Review of The Angels' Share (2012) by Liza B — 06 Jul 2012
A marvellous blend of classic Loach and Ealing comedy although it seems almost rude to use that word when the epiphany of a fine single malt is the object of the story line. The movie resembles My Name is Joe for starters but then mutates into something akin to Whisky Galore, only with more authentic accents and a lot less irritating.
The deployment of a largely untrained cast is one of Loach's shticks and once again, they don't let him down. There is some classic Scottish swearing and the character of Albert brings to mind Trigger from Only Fools and Horses.
