Review of The Angels' Share (2012) by Pampalini L — 04 Jul 2013
Ken Loach - the king of gritty, social realism - has once again created a fine, feel good, comedy which draws attention to and draws positives from a particular community within Scotland which unfairly or not often draws negative headlines: young adults (particularly men) from deprived, disadvantaged backgrounds.
Inaccurately billed as a Scottish equivalent of The Full Monty, I think my mate Paul Guthrie summarised the spirit of the film best by describing it as "a cross between Gregory's Girl and Trainspotting".
Sweet, funny and at times intensely moving. With a fine, truthful performance from the lead actor.
