Review of The Anderson Tapes (1971) by Naische F — 22 Dec 2008
Wonderful early Sidney Lumet movie starring Sir Sean Connery as a former fellon who plans to set-up one last heist. The movie features an excellent cast that includes an energetic Christopher Walken in his film debut, as well as, Martin Balsam as a flamboyant charmer.
The film deals with the issue of surveillance and the emerging technologies at the time of wiretaps (well before Coppola's masterpiece 'The Conversation'). Dyan Canon plays Connery's love interest, with shades of a Tiffany Case from 'Diamonds are Forever'.
Well directed and great shots of 1970s New-York as we would later see in more of Lumet's more mature efforts. Definitely worth the watch! I hear that a remake is scheduled for 2010.
