Review of The Amityville Horror (2005) by Kieran F — 05 May 2014
The original(Surprisingly) wasn't that great so when I heard they where remaking it I was...somewhat happy. Not in the aspect of that it was a good idea(cause it honestly wasn't) but more so in the aspect of "Maybe they can improve and do better where the original failed"...Sadly they couldn't.
First off the film was being produced by Michael Bay which should've thrown red flags up right there. I mean at the time he had just done the "TCM" remake and it was crap..so My expectations where pretty low.(And if I had known what was to become of alot of the other Horror films Bay would touch I would say low expectations is an understatement).
When I finally saw the film I was just sooo Disappointed in it. I watch it for...probably an hour and then left the last half hour to my imagination. It was just so dull and boring and...generic. I mean everything in it screamed either Nightmare on Elmstreet(In the concept) to Halloween (In the way in which it was shot from time to time) nothing was good. Leaving the film I just said to m self "What was I thinking" def. a disapointment.
