Review of The Amityville Horror (2005) by Shawn S — 05 Jan 2013

As with most remakes expectations were at an all time low.. The only major downfall I had with this movie is that Ryan Reynolds is horrible in it. Horror just isn't his genre, he just wasn't believable in his part, but I thought Melissa George was a bit more refreshing..

This was a bit more fast paced than the original and added a lot more jump scares so sort of took away from the overall atmosphere, but it wasn't the total dud I was expecting. From the story telling aspect it was quick and too the point, that left something to be desired for character development, seemed like they dumbed it down a little bit.

There were some slight improvements to where the ending was a bit more climatic in this one, and wasn't as much of a let down.
