Review of The Amityville Horror (2005) by Lovro H — 16 Jul 2015
I can't say I haven't enjoyed this movie, because I really did! Having not seen the original I have nothing to compare this movie to, but I really liked this remake! The story is nothing new to genre, but it is actually very scary and Ryan Reynolds delivers a very creepy and chilling performance.
One of his best performances! The characters are believable, they're not unlikeable nor very likeable, something inbetween. The movie also looks really good! The atmosphere of the movie is really unsettling, especially George's hallucinations and the 'torture chamber'.
The ending was a little bit abrupt for my taste and I didn't fully understand as to what happened to Jodie there... All in all, a pretty good horror movie with great performances, an unsettling atmosphere and some really effective scares! Would recommend to horror fans.
Even if it is a remake, I think this movie is worth 80 minutes of your life.
