Review of The Americanization of Emily (1964) by Angelos K — 04 Jun 2008
Chayefsky's best. A moving story of a "coward" who doesn't exactly love combat, and who meets an English war widow. With shades of "Dr. Strangelove" (which obviously influenced this movie), it is dark while still managing to be funny with a very engaging love story - and some great thoughts about the "nobleness of war", to boot.
No spoilers here, but stick around till the end. It's worth it.
