Review of The American President (1995) by Timothy M — 21 Dec 2012
The American President is a very charming Comedy that stars two powerful actors, Michael Douglas and Annette Bening. This movie not only has great humour and incredible chemistry by its two leads, but the movie also has a very good premise.
The movie is mostly about Michael Douglas, who plays the President who falls in love with a lobbyist, played by Annette Bening. The movie is also mainly about Michael Douglas' character trying to get re-elected for President, but because he's in this relationship he keeps losing more votes from the people because the people think he spends too much time with his new girlfriend more than he does running the country.
This film really explores the aspects of being in politics and it also shows you a lot about the media and how you shouldn't always listen to them. The American President, also has such a strong cast to make this movie great, like Michael Douglas and Annette Bening were great, but also Martin Sheen, Michael J.
Fox and Richard Dreyfuss were also very good, they played there characters really well. Director, Rob Reiner also does a fantastic job in the director's chair; he gives the movie great comedic humour, light hearted characters and a fun and an enjoyable story.
I would recommend this movie to people who love political movies or people who just love Michael Douglas because trust me if your fan of Michael Douglas you will love him in this film.
