In one of his more subtle performances, Clooney shines as the tormented assassin, in search of escape, and haunted by his sins. Corbijn exudes the essence of Italian minimalist cinema, and succeeds in creating a deeply evocative, albeit understated film that serves a character study for the man who isolates himself from emotion and from human connection.
The stunning cinematography and landscapes are the perfect accompaniment.
