Review of The American (2010) by Gretchen W — 27 Jun 2011
A good-looking film, but not terribly exciting, considering Clooney's an assassin... There's only about 7 deaths, which are clustered, leaving the middle hour of the film quite boring, siince all he's doiong is building a gun.
It's set in Italy - which looks fantastic, as does the prostitute - and the use of colours in the backalleys at night is superb. But it's all over too soon and you never learn enough about him to care too much.
