Review of The American (2010) by Corey N — 26 Jul 2011
This film is labeled as a suspense thriller. There are a few suspense moments but overall I found this to be more of a dramatic movie. The film stars George Clooney as a assassin. He goes into seclusion after a attempt on his life.
He hides out in a small town in Italy. While in hiding he gets a assigned a job by his handler to get a gun ready for another assassin. We watch the man become friends with a local priest and fall for a brothel prostitute.
He wants out of the assassin game but will his handler and others let him. George Clooney is excellent in this film. He plays the dark lone assassin very well. No other big names in this but the supporting cast are solid.
The few suspense scenes are good but don't expect that many of them. The film story may seem slow at times but it fits for the type of story told in this. Overall I enjoyed it. A must watch for any fan of George Clooney.
