Review of The American (2010) by Adam C — 31 Aug 2011
Most movies like this one really get me in a good way. The whole minimalist approach to a character entering a new country with no friends, no family, no goals in mind, just the scenery around them. It makes for a very real kind of fantasy, and it's easy to get lost in it.
George Clooney seems like the right guy for the job, too. There's something unfortunately droll about The American, though, and quickly enough you'll find that the dream-like nature of the cinematography is in fact putting you to sleep.
