Review of The American (2010) by Crystal A — 15 Nov 2011
The critics of this film seem to be divided into four camps: those who feel that they have to like it, those who like its style and lack of mainstream appeal, those who hated it for it's pacing, and those who hated it for being a lesser copy of better art-house films. I fall somewhere in between: I was interested throughout, but the pacing is abominably slow, and not in a good way. But, it is competently made, with excellent acting and beautiful shots. A mixed bag, like many films of this type.
Also, the ending. Reeeeeally cliche.
