Review of The American (2010) by Anthony M — 09 Mar 2012
A cinematic marvel. There are some picture-perfect, gorgeous shots but the movie suffers because its plot is cliche' and makes no effort to deviate to make an identity of its own. Not only that, there is little to no dialogue, not for the sake of immersing ourselves into the characters -- the approach is simply done for the sake of art.
I wanted to love this movie, but there is way too little substance within "The American" to even call it a movie.
