Review of The American (2010) by Scott G — 22 Mar 2012
A compelling film about a assassin played by clooney sent to italy in a small town, awaiting a job, this film is no bourne identity thrill chase, but a slow moving charactor study of a man possibly coming to the end of this lifestyle, and its pace and direction makes it very watchable.
clooney is great, the town in questrion becomes a charactor in itself, and there are elements of his life coming into play from assassin atempts on his life to him planning his job, it all works well, anda interesting follow up for Anton corjin who of course directed the wonderful film Control about the band Joy division.
a lot of complaints from fans were made at time of release due to misleading trailor, but stick with this you will get a lot.
