Review of The American (2010) by Thomas B — 08 Apr 2012
Dutch director Anton Corbijn spent 35 years as a photographer before he began making movies - and it shows. The composition and cinematography of this movie is stunning. And so is Herbert Grönemeyer's unobtrusive music.
But one of the best things about the movie is perhaps how un-american it is. Very subtle in its storytelling this redemptive odyssey leaves a lot to the viewer's imagination.
