Review of The American (2010) by Antony G — 03 Jul 2012
George Clooney plays an American Hitman who ends up being the target himself. After a failed attempt on his life, while in Sweden, he escapes to a small Italian village where he hopes to find solitude & peace as well as being out of danger. He is soon on the job again & is given the task to assemble a rifle needed to assassinate a target. While given this task he soon falls for a local prostitute & embarks on a romance with her. But danger is just round the corner as he is yet again tracked down & his life is in the balance.
It's not your usual all guns blazing action movie associated with this genre but instead we get an intense thriller without all the cheesiness & huge body count expected of this type of film. It's more of your thinking mans action thriller & thankfully it doesn't suffer for it.
