Review of The American (2010) by Matt S — 20 Jul 2013
A slow, moody film which I liked more than I expected. Don't watch this expecting action, it's more of an emotion played film. George Clooney should play more of this role as he portrayed it perfectly. Sulky, slow and interesting throughout.
Wanting to leave the assassin life behind, Clooney takes on one last job - to supply a weapon for a fellow hitman, or 'hitwoman' in this case. Set in the Italian countryside he befriends the local priest and slowly falls in love with a prostitute but soon realises his life is in danger before deciding to take action.
