The American is a throwback to the European spy movies and novels of the 70s - slow-paced and pensive, it develops characters with minimal dialogue based on excellent acting and scenery. It was certainly an interesting ride, but unfortunately the ending left me an unsatisfied viewer.
It was like I was watching part of someone's life without getting the full story.
