Review of The American (2010) by Aaron J — 20 May 2013
The American is a fascinating slow-burn thriller, but it is also a slightly flawed one as well. While the story itself could use more polish, for the most part, it is compelling and interesting to follow.
Another thing that I enjoyed about The American was that it had a very artsy and stylish feel to in the tradition of European films, especially when it came to visual looks and the overall pacing of the story.
The acting from the cast all around is pretty solid, especially from Clooney who plays the part of a hitman very well. It's a shame that this film has been lambasted by audiences because I think it is a very enjoyable and well-made thriller.
It's no masterpiece, but it's a damn fine film by itself.
