The Amazing Spiderman 2 is pack full of brilliantly directed action sequences, some incredible special effects, and a truly brillaint performance from the whole cast, its just a shame that it's script feels clunky and much character development is rushed because of the massive number of characters, a mistake from Sam Raimi's Spiderman 3 that should have been fixed.

What is the most notable and best part of this film is by far it's intense fight scenes and the superb special effects that create them. Vivid, bold, and set to an incredibly well matched soundtrack that will really grasp the audience.

However at some stages of the film, especially when in reference to Electro and many of his fights, it all becomes a little too much and cartoonish. Little aspects like music matching the fight, may seen fun at first but the repetitive nature of what may be called comedic elements takes alot of the intensity and impact of what may be a fatal fight.

But Electro as a whole atleast looks and is threatening, something needed in todays arena of superhero films, and I feel if Marc Webb had just focussed on fleshing him out instead of the inclusion of two other super villains and a number of different conspiracies and subplots that really take away from the films core story.

It just feels as if this is a steeping stone film, to a larger franchise, and its the character development that must be sacrificed. In saying that Peter Parker and his relationship with Gwen is handled very well and at some stages can be incredibly emotional it is just a shame it sometimes follows a predictable path and Gwen's big twist is something audiences picked up on from the trailers.

But it must be said that the acting is absolutely top notch, even making me like Andrew Garfield in the role of Spiderman, and special shout outs must go to Paul Giamatti and his comedicly perfect performance as the future Rhino, Sally Field giving the best interpretation of Aunt May to date, and Jamie Foxx, for doing what he could with the script and definitely giving a rememberable performance.

SpiderMan 2 has its highs and its lows but ultimately is a good superhero film that could easily lead to a bigger franchise, but first it needs to reflect and move past the massive amount of characters it continually tries to get us to connect with.
