Is it loud? Yes. Is it cumbersome? Yes. Is it wordy at times? Yes. Is there too much franchise maintenance for its own good? Yes. Is it fun?

Well, yes.

Despite its very obvious flaws The Amazing Spider-Man 2 succeeds at being a comic book movie brought to life. It has all the pacing problems you'd find in a comic, all the expedited character motivation and ultimately the mixed pay off interspersed with tastes of what's to come. Does it work as a film, not necessarily but it is a great example of lifting one medium and perfectly duplicating it onto another. This is what it feels like to read a Spider-Man comic.

Aside from the massive bias there for comic book fans, there are strong performances to be found in this silly little flick. The chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone is at an all time high and is easily the strongest thing about this movie (price of admission alone). A definite treat for comic book fans, a fun distraction for casuals. Enjoy!
