Review of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) by Carrie Y — 07 Mar 2015
Frustrating romantic tension and an air of arrogance take away from the quality of this film. Andrew Garfield channels Spidey quite well, despite an American accent that slips up sometimes. Emma Stone brings emotion to her character, though the writing falls short. Jamie Foxx's Electro is just crazy enough, without coming across as comedic. Dane DeHaan does quite well as Harry Osborn/The Green Goblin. Unfortunately, his character is shoved aside for a majority of the movie. The film would greatly benefit from featuring only one villain.
This was enjoyable to watch despite its flaws, and it brought back my love of comics. I would recommend it to Marvel fans.
