Review of The Alphabet Killer (2008) by Bobby L — 24 Nov 2009
Moody and neat little DTDVD flick from the director of Wrong Turn and starring Eliza Dushku. Dushku plays Megan Paige, a police inspector whom after not able to solve a case, has a breakdown and is diagnosed with schizophrenia.
Two years later, she is a reference clerk at the department and a similar murder happens. She is brought onto as a consultant but can she hold onto to herself despite the medicine and help from her support group? This film is most interesting and alive when it is dealing with her illness and the way it affects her on the case.
As a strict murder-mystery it's decent, but not amazing. Eliza Dushku gives the best performance of her career to date, and truly shines in the later half where she is fighting her demons head on.
It's a great performance. The rest of the cast is solid as well.
