Review of The Alamo (2004) by Dan Y — 25 Sep 2008
Great movie about American history. We're all familiar with the saying, "Remember the Alamo!" and you'll remember this movie long after watching it. High quality battle scenes with plenty of tension, good suspense (despite knowing what's going to happen) and a great overall depiction of one of the most tough battles to ever take place on American soil.
Dennis Qaid makes a great Samuel Houston and Billy Bob Thorton an equally good Davy Crockett. Perhaps it is his bizarre personality that helps him to do so well in certain roles, we all have God given gifts but sanity sure wasn't one of Thorton's. Acting, however, was.
