Review of The Alamo (2004) by Carl W — 24 Nov 2004
How come we always say 'Remember the Alamo', but when we put it on film, it is always a big screw up? The original John Wayne version was bad as well, but this one truly takes the highest honor in bore, and bad filmmaking.
Billy Bob Thorton, and Dennis Quaid (although it might as well be Randy) star as the two main charaters, they are over heroic, and sappy in every way possible, and as for the Mexican side, Santa Anna always seems like if he didn't really exist, then he would seem like a very unbelievable charater, he is always mad, even though it is obvious he will win the fight for The Alamo.
So, no don't get this film.
