Review of The Air I Breathe (2007) by Nathan B — 23 Oct 2008
This is one of those films that I didn't really know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by it though. Based around an Asian proverb that life can be broken down into 4 key emotions - Happiness, Pleasure, Sorrow and Love.
It follows the lives of 5 main charachters, a banker (Forest Whitaker), a crime boss (Andy Garcia), his henchman (Brendan Fraser)and a pop star (Sarah Michelle Gellar). The story tells of how these peoples lives entangle when events are set into motion and gives us the ultimate collision of fates.
It's a quirky movie, not too hammy and not over the top. In the same veign as the movie "Magnolia" it's an unoffense, well told journey of a movie that pleases and keeps you intrigued until its finale.
Great performances and some genuinely touching and funny moments. Worth a watch.
