Review of The Age of Innocence (1993) by Chris H — 17 Jan 2009
The first thing that Scorsese buffs will notice is the obvious departure from his speciality of gangster films and mentally deranged characters trying to fit into society. I would consider this to be like Mean Streets in a way.
Mean Streets was his first crime themed movie and The Age of Innocence is one of Scorsese first departures from the genre. Like Mean Streets it wasn't exactlly the masterpiece that Goodfellas and Taxi Driver were but they were still very good for one of his first romantic pieces.
