An unusual Sci-Fi/Fantasy plot can't keep this romantic drama about an ageless woman stuck at 29 from avoiding cliche. Still, as sappy and melodramatic as it is, The Age of Adeline is surprisingly entertaining. Though it moves along predictably, it has enough believable -- even commendable -- supporting performances propping up its outlandish story that one can't help but be intrigued. Harrison Ford and Ellen Burstyn stand out as immense, veteran talents giving weight to the proceedings. Even protagonist Blake Lively forgoes her usual monotone blandness for something that, at the very least, shows some range.

Add some points for the visual style and cinematography -- especially in the period/flashback scenes. Deduct points for the strange way in which our heroine receives her gift of agelessness, and for a ridiculous ending that is too convenient and makes life far too easy for the title character. Ain't too bad though overall.
