Review of The Age of Adaline (2015) by David J — 01 Jun 2016
Though the premise was rather oddly presented, Age Of Adaline was a pretty and all-around well-acted film, well worth a view. The story is of a 29-year old woman who survives a devastating car accident only to discover her inability to age and having to transverse life while her daughter ages and she doesn't, all the while wrapping herself in an unpenetrable cocoon.
Blake Lively deserves individual praise as the title character, as she plays Adaline with a quiet grace and class that she has become known for as a celebrity. The film stumbles elsewhere. The premise, as aforementioned is sometimes eye-roll worthy, and the movie is slow to move onto important scenes. In addition, the central conflict isn't much of one. Adaline faces no legitimate danger, and the film fails to explain therefore why she is so guarded after decades and decades of agelessness.
