Review of The Age of Adaline (2015) by Stuart S — 24 Jul 2015
If you can't deal with spoilers, never read my reviews.
I really wanted to like this movie more than I did. The premise is absurd, of course, but once you get past that, it tells a kind of interesting story. It's basically "pretty white girl stays young and pretty for decades, lucks out financially by investing in Xerox, and then meets a rich white guy and falls in love." Meh. I thought Lively wasn't. Ford was good - and the love interest was pretty good. I thought the wife-of-Ford's character was preposterous. Yeah - let my husbands long lost exGF who never gets old date my son? What? I thought that was pretty weak. On the other hand, it is a sweet movie - it's heart is not in a bad place, and it's a pretty good date movie - Mrs Studebaker and I saw it and had a lovely time. So, overall, 3 stars. You won't hate yourself for watching it, but it's not great art.
