Review of The Age of Adaline (2015) by Frederic C. B — 25 Apr 2016
Something as little as scientific fiction as the ability that Adaline has, is what made me curious to watch this movie. Blake Lively does a wonderful and amazing performance from the beginning until the end.
The story, how should I put it? Spectacular. Now, I'm not the kind of person who can delve into a story such as Age of Adaline so easily but I got immersed right away when the narrator explains thoroughly on what Adaline is going through.
Usually narration is played out horribly but this one was pretty well done. It made me continue to watch and see what's going to happen next. Adaline's life is a curiosity because it helps more to imagine what it's like to live in a life of being an immortal.
Over the course of the years, Adaline struggles through her life and even the current events of the history such as being mislabeled as a communist, risking to be found out about her ability, and of course falling in love with someone.
Because falling in love with someone means spending the rest of your life with that someone, which Adaline thought she couldn't afford to do. But in this particular event in this movie makes it quite special, for her moment in her own life.
It made me guess what the ending is going to be like and I was hoping that it won't end like Blue Jasmine. An ending that's not an ending but to have yourself conclude in any way you want. Which I'm okay with it but I like stories that has, for the lack of better description, "happily ever after" but really, I want a story that concludes itself but potentially to become a sequel, if persisted.
Age of Adaline is a wonderful romantic movie and it's almost poetic in a way. If you like to watch another sophisticated yet romantic film, this is the another!
