Review of The African Queen (1952) by Simon D — 20 Jul 2013
Considered a classic, African Queen is a hybrid between action adventure and romantic comedy. There is little plot in the film, and most of the substance comes from the growing relationship between Bogart's and Hepburn's characters.
The sad part is that while Hepburn's character is a fully developed detailed and interesting character, Bogart's character is little more than a comedic shell, reminiscent of Mary Poppin's Bert.
