Review of The Adventures of Tintin (2011) by Alexander Z — 06 Aug 2012

Tintin's strength lies in its action, but unfortunately it takes quite a while for that to begin. The setup is frankly quite tedious and seems like a lesser version of National Treasure. Tintin never does enough to distinguish itself, despite there being 70 years of history to draw on.

The characters are engaging enough, but there's not much substance. Maybe it's the uncanny valley taking hold, which is why I felt the dogs had more personality than the human characters, but I think it's just a lack of good writing.

However, the animation really is quite breathtaking in places and several years ago would have been astounding.
