Review of The Adventures of Tintin (2011) by Mike T — 16 Jul 2014
Good visuals, odd and off-beat story, solid adventure with spectacular, childish, innocent 3d motion capture graphics (like Avatar or Beowulf). It really was a good movie, the graphics and the childish innocence and creativity and moral niceness allow it to be a breath of fresh air.
I remember it was good in hindsight. I'm sure it's better than my opinion of it, as I found it, something was off about it, like I didn't get it or I had seen something offensive the week before or something, thinking back, it was a childish cartoon, and done in a unique kind of way.
You gotta love something like this, I mean it wasn't as good as Lego but it wasn't as bad as Non-Stop. it would be innocent, family well-crafted entertainment, and excellent! I enjoyed it in a 7/10 back in 2011, so it's a movie that grows on you when your expectations are lowered.
I really shouldn't have been so harsh to this movie, it's not a 7 even though that was what I was thinking while watching it .... it's an 8 in hindsight, for being different than some of the crap I've seen the last couple of years, in fact, I may go to half as many movies in a purposeful way to avoid the offensive crap, so there isn't as many stinkers as there was the last year.
This was brilliant in hindsight and was much more memorable than a lot of the boring stuff that I've seen in 2012. It really was over my head and so so much better than I gave it credit for. It's sad to not understand a movie like this, as it was brilliant and I didn't even realize that as any good swamper would realize.
Sad really, but in hindsight I can respect his movie a lot more and give it the 9/10 it deserves because in hindsight, I remember vaguely being ultra-creative with some very rainy, cool, pulpy scenes that are lots better than a lot of these Sin City type cartoons that are not as creative and brilliant as Tintin, which in hindsight was pretty epic, action packed, & perfection.
